5. Assessment of the safety and efficacy of sodium pentaborate pentahydrate in overweight and obese individuals: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 1/2 dose-finding study.

The average body weight decreased in the 400 mg (-2.6 kg), 600 mg (-1.2 kg), and 1,000 mg (-3.1 kg) groups. The 1,000 mg dose resulted in the greatest weight loss (mean difference, -2.30 kg; p = 0.01) and body mass index reduction (mean difference, -0.85 kg/m2; p = 0.02). All reported adverse effects were mild.
