Paneer Cheese Recipe
Paneer, also known as Indian cottage cheese, is a fresh and unsalted cheese that is widely used in Indian cooking.
Here is a simple recipe to make paneer at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice or vinegar
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
- Boil the milk in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- Once the milk comes to a boil, reduce the heat and add the lemon juice or vinegar.
- Stir gently until the milk curdles and the whey separates. If the milk doesn’t curdle completely, add some more lemon juice or vinegar.
- Turn off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Place a muslin cloth or a thin cotton cloth over a colander and strain the curdled milk.
- Rinse the paneer under cold water to remove any lemony flavor.
- Gather the edges of the cloth and squeeze out excess water.
- Place a heavy object on the cloth-wrapped paneer and let it sit for 1-2 hours to set.
- Once set, cut the paneer into cubes or slices as desired.
- Your homemade paneer is ready to be used in your favorite dishes!
