Check understanding during a seven-day practice

After each section, close the page and name one main idea, one fact, and one open question. At the end, make a three-to-five-point outline. A simple week is enough: test your baseline on day one; use a pointer on days two and three; practise phrase grouping on day four; scan a familiar article on day five; read a difficult text normally on day six; repeat the baseline test on day seven. Compare accuracy as carefully as speed.

When to stop

Burning eyes, headache, double vision, neck tension, or a sharp loss of comprehension mean the pace or conditions are wrong. Rest, improve lighting, and adjust font size. If reading difficulty appears suddenly, persists, or interferes with daily tasks, arrange an eye and health check. Exercises cannot replace diagnosis.

Safe speed reading is flexible control of pace, not a promise of a thousand words per minute. Measure your starting point, choose a purpose, increase speed in small steps, and verify that the meaning remains available for recall.
