Fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a deficiency of which in anorexia leads to deterioration: depression, heart problems, dry skin, and an increased risk of mortality from cardiovascular diseases and suicides.
Kartashova notes that in Russia, only 22% of young people consume fish in sufficient quantities, while 78% ignore this important product, exacerbating their health issues. She emphasizes that adding fish to the diet of people with anorexia helps normalize hypothalamic function and restores appetite by influencing orexigenic peptides and neurotransmitters.
