About the study.
The aim of the study was to assess the impact of caffeine consumption on swimming performance in athletes. Data from randomized controlled trials were analyzed within the systematic review and meta-analysis.
Results.
Caffeine improved swimming performance (SMD = 0.57, 95% CI: 0.20 to 0.94; p = 0.005), corresponding to an improvement of +1.71% in lnRoM (95% CI: +1.01% to +2.41%). Caffeine intake was associated with an increase in blood lactate levels after the test (MD = 0.85 mmol/L).

Multidisciplinary interventions demonstrated the greatest improvements (standardized mean difference [SMD] = -2.06; p = 0.002), followed by combined interventions VRT plus SAEP and VRT alone. Subgroup analyses showed similar results: multidisciplinary interventions were most effective for participants with persistent symptoms.
