The impact of dietary counseling and dietary fiber on tolerability in weight management with EMP16 and regular orlistat: a single-arm randomized pilot study; The effect of combined lifestyle intervention on cardiometabolic risk in cancer survivors: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials; The long-term association of dietary spermidine with liver function markers and cardiometabolic traits in older adults with metabolic syndrome; Causal assessment of 187 dietary habits and ovarian cancer from various sources using Mendelian randomization and meta-analysis; The effect of adding pectin on systemic inflammatory pathways, gut microbiome, and metabolic health in patients with metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MASLD): a protocol for a randomized controlled trial.
5. The impact of dietary counseling and dietary fiber on tolerability in weight management with EMP16 and regular orlistat: a single-arm randomized pilot study.
About the study.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of dietary counseling and fiber addition on tolerability in weight management using EMP16 and regular orlistat. The study involved adults with obesity and previous gastrointestinal issues.
Results.
Gastrointestinal (GI) events were significantly lower than expected in both groups, however, differences in AUC GITE were not statistically significant. Overall events and time to first GI event favored EMP16 with fiber. Relative weight loss was greater with EMP16 with fiber compared to regular orlistat with placebo (p = 0.026), with a similar reduction in LDL cholesterol of about 10%.
4. The effect of combined lifestyle intervention on cardiometabolic risk in cancer survivors: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
About the study.
The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of combined lifestyle interventions for reducing cardiometabolic risk in cancer survivors. Existing data on such interventions and their impact on health were analyzed.
Results.
Combined lifestyle interventions demonstrated significant improvements in body mass index and other cardiometabolic indicators in cancer survivors.
3. The long-term association of dietary spermidine with liver function markers and cardiometabolic traits in older adults with metabolic syndrome.
About the study.
The study aimed to explore the relationship between changes in spermidine intake and liver function markers and cardiometabolic characteristics in older adults with metabolic syndrome. Data from 2664 participants were used one year after the start of observation.
Results.
Three distinct patterns of spermidine consumption were identified. Cluster 3, characterized by the highest level of spermidine intake at baseline and its increase after one year, was associated with an average reduction in liver fat index of -8.97.
2. Causal assessment of 187 dietary habits and ovarian cancer from various sources using Mendelian randomization and meta-analysis.
About the study.
The study aimed to assess the impact of 187 dietary habits on the risk of ovarian cancer using Mendelian randomization and meta-analysis. Genetic data and their association with ovarian cancer were compared.
