5. The impact of dietary counseling and dietary fibers on tolerability in weight management with EMP16 and regular orlistat: a single-center randomized pilot study.

The aim of the study was to assess the impact of dietary counseling and the addition of fiber on tolerability in weight management using EMP16 and regular orlistat. The study involved adults with obesity and previous gastrointestinal issues.
Results.
Gastrointestinal (GI) events were significantly lower than expected in both groups; however, differences in AUC GITE were not statistically significant. Overall events and time to first GI event favored EMP16 with fiber. Relative weight loss was greater with EMP16 plus fiber compared to regular orlistat with placebo (p = 0.026), with reductions in LDL cholesterol being similar at about 10%.
