5. Body weight changes after a multi-component lifestyle intervention in older adults at risk of dementia - post-hoc analysis of the AgeWell.de study.
About the work.
Changes in body weight in older adults with overweight or obesity after a multi-component intervention within the AgeWell.de trial were analyzed. The focus was on the relationship between group distribution and changes in body weight, as well as the role of motivation and confidence in weight loss.
Results.
Group distribution was not associated with changes in body weight at 24 months. Older age and higher education levels were associated with lower body weight, while higher baseline weight predicted greater weight at the follow-up. Motivation and confidence levels for weight loss remained high but stable in both groups.
4. Efficacy and safety of imeglimin hydrochloride in metabolic dysfunction associated with hepatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes: a single-center, single-arm phase 2 study (IMELD study).
About the work.
The study assessed the efficacy and safety of 24 weeks of treatment with imeglimin in patients with metabolic dysfunctional hepatic steatosis and type 2 diabetes. The study included patients receiving 1000 mg of imeglimin twice daily.
Results.
The median ALT level significantly decreased from 56.00 (47.00-75.00) U/L at baseline to 34.00 (29.00-51.00) U/L at 24 weeks (P < 0.001).
3. Diabetes medications in development.
About the work.
New therapeutic approaches to diabetes treatment are discussed, including multi-target drugs and incretin agonists. The study focuses on various classes of antidiabetic medications and their impact on metabolic pathways.
Results.
Today, new insulin sensitizers modify metabolic pathways, providing higher energy with fewer side effects. Adjunctive therapies for type 1 diabetes improve glucose control and reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. There are promising developments in the diabetes pipeline that could transform the therapeutic landscape.
2. Physical exercise, dietary, and combined interventions (exercise and diet) for metabolic syndrome: a Bayesian network and component network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
About the work.
The aim of the study was to compare the effects of structured interventions of physical exercise, diet, and their combination on components of metabolic syndrome in overweight or obese adults. The study included 78 randomized controlled trials.
