5. Personalized video-based lifestyle intervention for adults with overweight or obesity in Phnom Penh, Cambodia: a pilot cluster randomized controlled trial.
About the work.
The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a video intervention on physical activity and nutrition among adults aged 30-59 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. A total of 63 individuals participated, with 31 in the intervention group and 32 in the control group.
Results.
The intervention group showed significant improvements in adherence to physical activity, adherence to healthy eating, self-efficacy in exercise and healthy eating, as well as in levels of systolic blood pressure, body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol compared to the control group (P < .05).
4. Identification of microRNA biomarkers in idiopathic intracranial hypertension: a pilot study.
About the work.
The study aims to identify micro ribonucleic acids (miRNA) in serum associated with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and disease activity. Levels of miRNA were compared among women with active IIH, remission, and control groups with obesity and migraine.
Results.
Five out of 40 serum miRNAs showed significantly lower expression in active IIH compared to remission. hsa-miR-16-5p demonstrated the highest diagnostic efficiency for active IIH (area under the curve 0.951). hsa-miR-16-5p and hsa-miR-7-5p were significantly lower in active IIH compared to the obesity control group, while hsa-miR-7a-5p was significantly higher in active IIH compared to migraine.

About the work.
The study aims to evaluate the effects of phenolic extract from sorghum BRS305 on metabolic parameters and oxidative balance in adults with overweight. The randomized controlled trial compared the effects of the sorghum drink and a control drink on various biochemical indicators.
Results.
The sorghum drink demonstrated a high diversity of phenolic compounds, reflected in increased concentrations of trans-caffeic acid and naringenin in the plasma of the group consuming the sorghum drink, as well as an increase in total antioxidant capacity of the plasma. The group consuming the sorghum drink showed a decrease in insulin, triglycerides, HOMA-IR, and TyG index, as well as an increase in HDL-c and a decrease in Castelli indices.
