For detoxification, a large amount of protein and alpha-ketoglutarate is needed – a product that is produced during ketosis. Therefore, the ketogenic diet enhances detoxification processes.

Production of ketone bodies, including beta-hydroxybutyrate and AKG. AKG supports mitochondrial functions, aids in toxin neutralization, and enhances recovery processes in the liver.
Increased fat intake and moderate protein. The keto diet provides amino acids necessary for detoxification without overloading the liver with excess nitrogen, as is the case with high-carb and high-protein diets simultaneously.
