Furikake is a fragrant mixture made from sesame seeds, seaweed, various herbs, fish flakes, and salt. The name of this dish comes from the Japanese word meaning “sprinkle.”
Its preparation begins with toasting sesame seeds (2 tbsp) in a dry skillet. Do this over medium heat, stirring constantly until the seeds turn golden. After that, transfer them to a bowl and let them cool.
Next, prepare the nori seaweed (2 tbsp). Cut it into small pieces or crush it into a powdery state.
In a large bowl, combine the toasted sesame seeds, prepared nori seaweed, salt (1/2 tsp), and sesame paste or oil (1/2 tsp). Gently mix all the ingredients.
The finished mixture is recommended to be stored in an airtight jar or container.
