Grind dried barberry (1 dessert spoon), cardamom (1 piece), cumin (1/2 teaspoon), black pepper (2 peas), clove (1 piece), and star anise petals (2 pieces) in a mortar.

Add saffron (1/2 teaspoon) and vanilla (0.5 g). Gently mix the spices.

Transfer the mixture to a mug or teapot. Pour boiling water (250–300 ml) over it. Cover with a lid and steep for 10 minutes.

Strain the drink through a sieve. Drink in the evening after the last meal.
